Antec gives you a free sd/flash card reader when you buy their Aria cases (which are awesome). unfotunately, the thing's internal so i couldn't easily swap it between machines. so i decided to splice it with a standard usb-a plug so i could do whatever i damn well pleased with it. picture time:

i un-crimped the metal pieces out of the reader, cut and stripped the usb-a cable a few inches down from the plug, and soldered the like colors together (i abandoned the shielding).

then i wrapped the individual wires in electrical tape, then wrapped the wrapping in masking tape (because i'm to sophisticated for duct tape)

now i can plug it in my other sweet looking Antec cases:
