so my friend jake is back in town and i thought i'd let him play some wii baseball / destroy my controller

this is a remote after the wristband snaps and it flies into a wall. oddly enough the motion sensor still worked (you could still swing the bat), but when i tried to point at anything on the menu screen, there was no finger to be found.

so i decided to disassemble the controller and see what the deal was (what's the worse that can happen, i fix it?). here's a video i found on youtube that shows you how open it. (note: the 4 screws have triangle bits, but if you're a cheap-ass like myself you can shove a small flathead in them and get enough torque to turn them)

after taking it apart i looked at the (i'm guessing) infrared sensor on the front of the controller board and i noticed the lens part was cock-eyed. when i pressed it with my finger it snapped back flat. i snapped some pictures, but they were blurred, so here is some m$paint!

i also had to re-solder a connection to the battery, but i think i ripped it off due to being less than gentle when opening up the controller. here's a picture of jake bored in my impromptu bathroom soldering station:

putting it back together was cake, and low-and-behold the damn thing worked!

total cost: $0 (screwdriver, soldering iron, and finger required)
